Analysis of data was uses SPSS/PC, mean for stress level, the relationship between patient¡¯s characteristics and stress were analyzed by using mean, t-test, the ANOVA, the Pearson correlation coefficient. The results of this study were as follows : 1. The principal stress of emergency room patients appeared to be, in order, "aggrevation of symptom"(M=3.02, S.D.=1.00), "delay the treatment" (M=2.88, S.D.=0.97), "worry about being burden to family"(M=2.86, S.D.=0.90), "waiting for the results of laboratory test" (M=2.80, S.D.=0.88), "difficulty to meet doctor" (M=2.78, S.D.=1.04), "disease would be a obstacle to their scholastic or social activities" (M=2.78, S.D.=1.07). 2. The level of stress factor was in sequence : stress related socio-economic factor (M=2.70, S.D.=1.01), stress related physical state and disease (M=2.57, S.D.=1.0), stress related medical team(M=2.39, S.D.=0.95), stress related surrounding of hospital. (M=2.17, S.D.=0.95). 3. It was found that occupation (P<0.05), admission history (P<0.005) were statistically significant, in the stress related to characteristics of patient.
